The Cen-Tex Sustainable Communities Partnership serves as a forum to combine regional sustainability efforts to improve the overall quality of life and economic vitality of the Central Texas region and its citizens. Members include Fort Hood and the Cities of Belton, Copperas Cove, Gatesville, Harker Heights, Killeen, Lampasas, Nolanville, and Salado.
The Cen-Tex Partnership strives to promote environmentally sound practices through events such as Fort Hood Earth Fest, Gatesville Earth Day, Keep Copperas Cove Beautiful Eco Harvest, Nolanville Monarch Fest, Harker Heights Food, Wine & Brew Festival, Salado Sirena Festival, and Killeen GIS Day.
Sustainable development emphasizes an equitable, beneficial and far-sighted approach to decision making at all levels and emphasizes not just strong and economic performance but inter-generational equity.
