The Cen-Tex Sustainability Partnership serves as a forum to combine regional sustainability efforts to improve the overall quality of life and economic vitality of the Central Texas region and its citizens.

Cen-Tex will maintain the ability of Fort Hood to train, deploy and sustain its mission by promoting sustainable development of the Fort Hood region through mixed-use development, intermodal transportation networks, open space, and economic development.

Fort Hood and its neighboring cities, Killeen, Gatesville, Harker Heights, and Copperas Cove decided that Central Texas needed to move forward in the direction of sustainability. We signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in April 2009 establishing a 5-year partnership to develop and implement sustainability in Central Texas through voluntary programs. Our goal is to achieve measureable benefits by agreeing upon comment environmental goals and implementing Partnership-guided projects to contribute to the vitality of the Central Texas economy and quality of life for the region's citizens. At the January 2010 conference, each Partnership member led the development of objective for five broad goal area with the intent to collectively work on each;
